Tasos Vrettos presents a series of portraits-instantanés which explore the psychology of the travelling experience by train, highlighting the paradox of simultaneous solitude and coexistence in a specific place, the parallel course of individual and collective time running concurrently with the predetermined journey. Through the snapshot style of the photographs the artist evokes the impersonal character of mass means of transport, the necessity of temporary coexistence in conditions where the possibility of anonymity and the presence of the random element operate together to shape patterns of social behaviour and the ephemeral nature of what little communication occurs.
