5 EMBOTTLED //
In January of 2000 Vrettos presented the exhibition 'Embottled'. For this he worked with dancers whom he photographed in various positions. He then placed those photographs in bottles and photographed them again. The final images, with no digital manipulation involved, were exhibited in light boxes in a womb like, dark transfiguration, space understanding and the freedom of the medium of photography vis a vis all relevant research.
This body of work evolved in his cooperation with Sine Qua Non dance company and the staging of 'Transmutations'. There, dancers were enclosed in transparent boxes (in a re-enactment of the photographic image) and performed in real time. A video work from Vrettos, based on the initial idea of the Embottled folio, was also part of the performance. Transmutations were presented in Greece and Berlin.
